On Thursday 22 July 2010, Lacoste L.12.12 was nominated as the site of the day and received a web award for its creativity and its web design excellence. Showcased on Design Licks, Lacoste L.12.12 is recognised as one of the web awards winners for year 2010.
The website reaffirms the decisive role René Lacoste played in inventing the polo shirt by showcasing the brand%u2019s iconic product, the L.12.12 polo shirt, named after the original code name he gave his first polo shirt. L.12.12: - L for LACOSTE - 1 for the material, knit cotton piqué - 2 for the short-sleeved design - 12 for the number of the version René Lacoste selected To tell this story, which dates back to 1933, the agency defined a thoroughly graphic, modern style where the polo shirt%u2019s creation is illustrated by pixels and a line representing the cotton thread and knit piqué material that made the L.12.12 so successful worldwide. The site is built around the following three features: - L.12.12: a video about the L.12.12 code%u2019s history - ALL FITS: the expression describing all the Lacoste polo shirt%u2019s cuts through video sketches illustrating the full line of polo shirts for men, women and children. Each cut is shown with the various dress styles associated with it. - COLOURS: a function linked to the Lacoste polo shirts%u2019 colour range, the brand%u2019s exclusive offer of over different colours that change every season. Over time, new digital experiences will enhance each section. The first experience, a huge video portrait of René Lacoste made up of over 1,300 polo shirts, went online on 3 June exclusively on Facebook, where the brand%u2019s 1.4 million worldwide fans can see it. Web visitors can use an application available on the site and the Lacoste Facebook page, L.12.12 ME, to make their own portrait out of L.12.12 polo shirts.
